Banner looks good, but the black on gray is not the most legible combination for the text. Not saying that I can't read it, just saying that it could be easier to read.
Unless you have a suggestion for another colour, shut up.

It's the only colour available in our choices that is vaguely legible.
He probably has trouble seeing past the balefire.

I *heart* that banner.
I would say using hex 999999 (or even CCCCCC, though that might be pushing it) instead of 666666 with black or 333333 with white would likely be more legible. The hex colour charts seem to follow this pattern, with 666666 being the first with white writing in the gray scale. If you were to go with the second option, I would also change the titles to be the off orange that you are using, as the dark blue (and the darker brown spectrum) would be really hard to read. In general, even with this one as it stands, I would be tempted to go with white writing for the titles instead of the dark blue to draw the eye to the breaks between the entries.
And yes, the balefire does make it hard to see, but fortunately the eternally tormented souls that one uses to fuel it don't seem to have that problem, and are very gracious in explaining the issues.
Very well, sir. I shall experiment.
